SITE HISTORY

 

The Cloud Peak Wilderness automatic photographic monitoring system was installed atop Grouse Mountain in June 1996.  The camera viewed Mathers Peak to the west until October 2001. 

Photographs were taken at 09:00 and 12:00 daily from 1995 through 2001.  Monitoring frequencies decreased to once daily (9:00) during winter months.  Over 3,300 35mm color slides of the Mathers Peak Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.

In April, 2001 the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality installed a high-resolution digital camera.  The camera views Hunter Mesa to the southwest.  No Hunter Mesa Vista images are included in this historical archive.

Site-specific historical archive products include:

  • Site Specifications - detailed site location map, vista photograph, and site specifications describing the scene monitoring site.
  • Spectrum Frequencies - tabular visual range and cumulative frequency summaries for each range of visibility spectrum.
  • Image Gallery - select images representative of observed air quality conditions for the summarized scene monitoring site.

Also included is Air Program Information describing visibility measurements, causes of poor visibility, and Web addresses of related air quality data programs.
